Creation of a DVX2/3 Termbase:
Using the Windows File Exporer, copy the file DVX-IATE-bilingual-template.dvtdt from the DVX file set to
%ProgramData%\ATRIL\Déjà Vu X2\Templates\Termbase if you use DVX2, or %ProgramData%\ATRIL\Déjà Vu X3\Templates\Termbase if you use DVX3
Start DVX3
(The process when using DVX2 is very similar and differs only in that separate wizards are used)
- Select File > New > Termbase
- Specify Name and Location of the new termbase; click Next
- Select “DVX IATE bilingual template” from the list of Templates; click Close
- Select the Source Language and the Target Language according to the Termbase csv you want to import
- Select the Text import icon (utmost left icon) from the Menu EXTERNAL DATA
- Specify File Name and Location: browse to the downloaded file set and select (IATE_[lang1]_[lang2]_TB_*.csv) ; click Next
- Specify Tab as Text Delimiter, check First Row Contains Field Names; click Next
- For each Field from the list of Fields that will be imported:
The code Page should be selected as Unicode (UTF-8) - Required fields are the second and the third field, representing the source language and its translation, respectively.
- So the second field needs to be imported as Main Lemma, and its language needs to be selected.
- Likewise the third field needs to be imported as Translation for the language(code) of the second field.
- All other fields are optional.
- Concept-id may be imported as Concept for All Lemmas
- subjectField may be imported as Subject for All Lemmas
- Context may be imported as Context for All Lemmas
- reliabilityCode may be imported as Reliability Code for the respective language
- adminStat may be imported as adminStat for the respective language
- termType may be imported as adminStat for the respective language
- termType may be imported as termType for the respective language
- When import for all Fields is specified, click Next; click Next again
Now the terms are imported
Creation and filling of a DVX2/3 Translation Memory:
Start DVX3
(The process when using DVX2 is very similar and differs only in that separate wizards are used)
- Select File > New > Translation Memory > DoubleClick Translation Memory
- Specify Name and Location of the new Translation Memory; click Close
- Select the Source Language and the Target Language according to the Translation Memory csv you want to import
- Select the Text import from the Menu EXTERNAL DATA
- Specify File Name and Location: browse to the downloaded file set and select (IATE_[lang1]_[lang2]_TM.csv) ; click Next; click Next
- Specify Tab as Text Delimiter, check First Row Contains Field Names; click Next
- For each Field from the list of Fields that will be imported:
The code Page should be selected as Unicode (UTF-8) - Required fields are the second and the third field, representing the source language and its translation, respectively.
- So the second field needs to be imported as Main Segment, and its language and Code Page (UTF-8) needs to be selected.
- Likewise the third field needs to be imported as Translation, and its language and Code Page (UTF-8) needs to be selected.
- Concept-id may be imported as Segment ID
- subjectField may be imported as Subject for All Lemmas
- The remaining fields cannot be imported into DVX2/3, so don’t tick Import As
- When import for all Fields is specified, click Next
- Do NOT select Remove duplicate segments
- click Next again
Now the segments are imported
